Objectif: Reduce barriers to home and community based services to ensure best practices in Telemedicine.
There is a critical nursing shortage nationwide limiting access to acute & chronic illness management and preventative care. Nurses play a key role in Telemedicine by monitoring a patient’s condition, vital signs, blood pressure, weight, oxygen saturation, wound care, rehabilitation, and education. Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and Midwives provide a variety of services (i.e. women’s health services, pre-natal care/education, mental health counseling, community health, etc.) with the same quality as Physicians. Furthermore language barriers, physical impediments, time-management restraints, or limited access to transportation can often deter many individuals from going to the doctor. 1. Most Telehealth/Telemedicine websites focus on physician services. 2. Knowledge deficit exists on the benefits of Telehealth Nursing services. 3. Fragmentation of care with multiple Telehealth providers 4. Preventative care services currently scattered across multiple websites.
